Tattoo aftercare

This is what the studio tells you to do after every session, taken from what they gave us in writing.

Day by day

  1. Day one. You leave the studio with a second skin on. It stays on for three days, and it does not come off in the meantime.
  2. Days 2 and 3. Keep the second skin on, and do not take it off. Washing starts once it comes off.
  3. After three days. The second skin comes off and washing begins: three times a day, with tattoo cream after every wash. A thin layer of cream, one of the kind that dries quickly.
  4. The first 10 days. Stay out of the sun, and avoid sweating.
  5. At two weeks. Once it has peeled you can use sunscreen and go to the beach. Two weeks is the point the studio gave for that.

When to come to the studio

If the wound weeps, do not wait

The sign the studio watches for is a wound that weeps, with a thick, greenish discharge.

Come to the studio so we can look at it, or see a healthcare professional. If it is getting worse, do not wait for your next appointment.

We are not going to tell you what to put on it. This page gives no product or medication advice: the person who can tell you that is a healthcare professional, not a tattoo studio.

What never to do

  • Taking the second skin off before three days have passed.
  • Sunbathing or sweating during the first 10 days.
  • Going to the beach or putting on sun cream before the tattoo has peeled (better at two weeks).

If you have a specific question about something you want to do in these days, ask us before you do it.

Touch-ups

For tattoos, the touch-up is included if you tell us within a month. After that month it is no longer free.
